Proof of lease of apartment in Portugal - D7 visa

Post new topic

Andrea E1

Hello, can anyone tell me if the Portuguese government now requires a 1-year contract on an apartment for the D7 visa? I've heard that this is a recent new rule they have introduced due to the massive influx of applications.

If this is the case, where would I stand if I move in with a friend who is already a resident? I've also heard they no longer accept a sponsorship letter from a resident. Does anyone have any up to date info?

Hi Andrea, Welcome :)

Just recently (less than 3 months), there was a post here about visa approval, with an invitation letter for accommodation (sponsorship letter / "carta convite").

These types of requirements may vary between consulates. You should find out more about this at your local Portuguese consulate.

Kind Regards
