I think the most important question is:  Where is your place of work and where will the kid go to school (Nursery eventually)?    that will determine the area that you need to choose to live in.   Ideally, you need to be closer to the kids school vs. the work place.  So you don't waste time in pick and drops.

The second question is around your lifestyle and budget.  Are you an apartment or villa person?   do you want to be near or facing the sea?

Depending on the answers to those two questions, people can recommend options to you.

The options given above, while family friendly, are not ideal for white collar expats (and western expats).  For example, instead of Budaiya / Hamad Town, people choose Saar or Hamala (St.Chris and BSB schools plus large expat community).  Instead of wider Riffa, people go for Riffa views (RVIS school. Villas and in the range of 800 BD+ per month).
