EP Appeal takes too long

Post new topic

myEpGotRejected

Hi All

I am currently on Spass, my current employer wanted to upgrade me to EP holder. so they submit an application to MOM on 18/9/2021, after two weeks it got rejected and the reason was: The salary offered does not seem commensurate with the candidate's credentials.

After that, company submitted the appeal on 5/10/2021, and until now we don't receive any information/responses from MOM. Might I know anyone has same issue?

Updated: I have another job offer and they are going to apply EP for me, so I either wait for MOM to come out with the result or ask employer to cancel it.

My Salary is 7k, I have more than 5 years working in Software Developer and my degree is not in Singapore.

Anyone knows why MOM take so long to review the appeal?

wow. good luck to you bro,
so is it possible to withdraw the appeal? Do you know?

The employer can contact MoM to find out what is holding it up.
The employer can also withdraw the appeal (and thus cancel the application).

If you don’t get a response to an appeal for 4 weeks odd, your employer must call and request MoM to expedite the approvals. If you still don’t get a response, it’s best to either withdraw the application (work towards a new one with a stronger cover and inputs), provided you aren’t thin on timelines. Else work on Plan B, different gig. Always ensure your application is strong, all necessary inputs are provided in the first submission/ at one go. Repetitive flags cause delays and for sure anxiety to us as applicants- not worth it.

As a practice, pick the phone and ensure the submitter does a quick check with you. Get your resume, job banks post link, candidates interviewed summary, why you are being offered a specific salary, educational certs and transcripts (if applicable), company financials (unaudited is fine, especially for start-ups), some fab’ English on why you/ skills etc on a cover letter to make it a smooth sail.

A rejection with 3 months of waiting on appeal, I mean it has little or no hope if MoM hasn’t picked it up despite follow-ups. Fair?

Hi ,

My EP was applied in Aug 11th and reject at 20th August. Company appealed at 27th September 2021 with all the additional details, application is still pending  .

Anyone suggest, will it be approved by end of this month. Because of company going to withdraw my offer and EP as this EP process is taking so long time.

Thanks so much for your answer. that means there is very little chance that this application get approved by MOM? Probably, I need to ask employer to cancel this application, it has been 3 months...

Good luck to you bro! We're miserables :thanks:

Read above, I can’t make accurate predictions here but the thumb rule is to follow up with MoM through your employer and request an update from the case officer. The 3-4 months appeal period is overly long and not standard- so get an answer from MoM and if you still don’t see any progress, makes sense to withdraw and work towards Plan B.

Just to update, my appeal got approved today.

However, is this possible if another company apply the EP for me while the IPA is active?

No. It must be cancelled or the EP issued, before any new application can be submitted.
