Hello Greg Frank,

Where are you located ? What are your needs ?

We call that a starter pack here : Sim card + free data included. Costs around Rs 100.00

MyT and Emtel are the main providers, they are both good. Emtel has launch a Tourist Starter pack.

Thank you for the reply That's fantastic, just question would exchanging money at the airport be advisable or better in town?
Kind regards Greg

The exchange rate is subject to daily changes. I would suggest that you exchange only enough to cover your expenses over a few days. Then, see around if you get better rates.

Perhaps members can share a few recommendations on money changers

I don't think exchange rates at airports in general are ever very competitive, so as recommended probably best to change enough for your immediate needs.

The MCB bank has a lot of branches so you'll probably find one near where you are staying.

If you are bringing pounds, the exchange rate is really good at the moment so you are in luck.

Thank you so much πŸ‘πŸΎπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜

There is an MCB autoteller machine as you exit arrivals at SSR Airport - just after receiving your baggage.

The exchange rate you get when you draw Rupees there with your foreign card will depend on both MCB and your foreign bank, but should be more favourable than at any money changer or even Western Union or Thomas Cook forex desk
