Hi Everyone,

I will be moving to Riyadh in May/June 2022 with my wife for work. The contract is for 3 years. We have done a lot of research online and discussions with other expats who have been to Riyadh and the wider Kingdom.

We are from Adelaide, Australia and will be leaving behind 3 adult daughters and 2 amazing grandchildren. Plus the dog and the cat.....

We look forward to asking questions, creating connections with other ex-pats and learning from you all.

Cheers

Hi, I'm Michelle/Nabilah and I arrived recently from Texas. I'm interested to know if there is a organization  for English speaking  women here. I made some lifelong friends as part of my time with the American Women of Doha. I met wonderful women from all over the world as well as lovely local ladies. Please give me contact information  for any similar groups locally. Thank you all.
I've been here a few weeks and still exploring all the things.

When first driving around Riyadh, you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s just a jumble of skyscrapers and megamalls.
But look a little closer, and you’ll find the Ad Dirah neighborhood, the old heart of the Saudi capital. There are no glistening towers here, no designer boutiques. The streets are narrower. It feels like you’ve stepped back in time.
Locals come to the area to shop, to relax, to socialize. They might come to pray at the Imam Turki Bin Abdullah Grand Mosque – the city’s largest – or to stroll with their family in Salam Park. Perhaps they’re attending a Ramadan celebration in Al Safa Square. Many will drop by the Souk al-Zal – the biggest, oldest artisan market in Riyadh.

The market can trace its history back to 1901, to the beginning of modern Saudi Arabia. It sits within a stone’s throw of the Masmak fortress – the site where, in 1902, a young Ibn Saud and a small band of his most trusted soldiers crept up after dawn prayers, rushed the gate, captured the governor, and announced the return of the Al Saud family.
A treasure trove of traditional Eastern artefacts, the souk is one of the major tourist attractions in Riyadh. The word ‘zal’ means ‘carpet’ or ‘floor rug’, referring to the patterned textiles so central to Middle Eastern imagery.
Don't miss it ..

Hello Everyone! I really want to move back to Saudi Arabia, I've lived there for 2 years after marrying my husband who was born and raised in Saudi. We both cancelled our Iqama and moved to Cape Town.

I completed my studies now and would love to find a job and move back, I've been applying online for Jobs but haven't gotten any feedback so far.

Any advice on how I could find a job and move over as a Female Software Engineer?

Asrars

Go to Labor office.

I lived and worked in Saudi Arabia for 7 years. I understand the culture.  My dad worked there for 20 years.

lindylou9905

He started with riofinex geological mission. Then brgm. Then ended up with usgs. Geological mission.

lindylou9905

Seems I may be on wrong site.   I already Introduced myself.
My dad having spent 20 years in the country. Was treated badly with usgs.  Because of me.  Which I didn’t realise at the time.  A certain couple of men used me.  I’d like it investigated. Please.
My main reason for this is I’d love to go back.  I know the rules. So did dad.  He died August 1 2021. At home with me. Having lost my mum who he dote on. In 2017.
I am and always have been a hairdresser. So yes I’d love to be able to come back to Jeddah. With my Retired marine husband and our two boys.

Hi everyone!

My name is Karishma and I'm moving to Riyadh in October 2022 with my new husband. Both of us work in the real estate sector. Our jobs lead us to Saudi and we are looking forward to starting our new life there! Hope to make lots of friends :)

Currently, we are exploring accommodation, preferably in compounds. My office is located in Raidah Digital City and my husband's in Al Sulaymaniyah area. So we are open to all suggestions :D

Also, would be very helpful to understand what's the best way for expats to learn some Arabic :)

Looking forward to some new connections :D

Cheers!
