Hi,
You will most certainly enjoy it here IF YOU WORK for a decent company
At night it is truly spectacular with all the lights and lots of restaurants and coffee shops. The Zone in Riyadh is definitely a must-try - Greem and Catch 22 restaurants are lovely but there is a lot there.
. We have been here for a year and a half but due to Saudization, companies are exploiting their expat workers.ย  They give them 1y contracts and thereafter "toy" with them by extending two months, then 1 month, and this goes on...also not giving them increases, which I think by law they are supposed to work on a min of 2% inflation. However, the laborer people with small salaries, don't report this as they are too happy to still have a job.ย  Their living conditions are atrocious - Ours a little better but just as bad - WORST COMPOUND EVER
This is what we have found/experienced with a lot of companies.
My husband must be working for the WORST co in Saudi which obviously is not a good reflection on Saudi.ย  We all tend to say Saudi is not a good place to work in however it is the companies that are bad..Good luck in your venture here

Guest7634297

Hi,
Just DO NOT look at Al Romaizan Compound....this must be the WORST compound ever

Hi,

Somebody came in KSA on new work visa(general worker) but his Kafeel(company) didn't make their legal Iqama/salary/medical. Even his visa validity also has been expired after 3 months.
So right now what options are available to maintain his status as legal?

@Julien HI Julien, my name is Dale, and I have been living and working as an English teacher in Saudi for the last eight years; for the first two years I worked at Tabuk University, and for the last six years I have been living in Majmaah, and working at Majmaah University.

I wanted to expand my Majmaah social circle, since my expat circle here is basically the small number ofย  native English speakers at the University, but Majmaah is a very small town.

How could I get in contact with other English speaker ex-pats in Majmaah?

Thanks;

Dale.

Hi Amy! And to all others reading this post. Iโ€™m a British citizen, interviewing for a teaching job in Riyadh next week. Just wanted to ask you all how safe it is in Riyadh, health wise. I have a slight health concern, due to which I always eat organic food. My concern for Riyadh is the eating. Iโ€™m hearing and reading in various places that thereโ€™s risk of typhoid and hepatitis A in Saudi so just wondered what everyone elseโ€™s experiences are, especially those that have moved there from the UK. Due to underlying health, Iโ€™m unable to have vaccines, which is why im here asking for guidance from you wonderful people. Looking forward to responses. Many thanks!
