Marrakech or Tangier

Post new topic

Dears,
As a family with 3 children (9 years old/ 6 years old / 1 year old) , we wish to live in Morocco. Basically my wife and I can work from everywhere (we are Digital nomads) , so we must choose between those 2 cities to live …

Which city is the best for you to live in ?
We want our children to enjoy the Moroccan life And we as parents want to enjoy the place where we would live.

We are living in Paris currently and want to flee the stress of this city and move out of France for some time .

Tangier is very attractive due to the sea, Europe that is close , nice climate , but it  is maybe too stressful and busy ?
We don’t want to escape from Paris to finally move in a city that would be similar to Paris (in terms of stress , traffic , noises …

Marrakech is always said to be a place for RETIRED people, that s true that many old people like to live there but we must admit that this city is a jewel too. So beautiful.

Please help us , we really hesitate between the beautiful and not so stressed Marrakech and Tangier , near the sea and Spain , and lively city…

Cheers
Bhavna
Hi Mdp93,

Welcome on board !

I hope that members will be able to guide you..

Isn't not possible for you to live a couple of days in each city (temporary accommodation/airbnb) to see how it feels ?

Regards,
Bhavna

Hi
Bhavna Advice is exactly what we did albeit we spent 5 months in Tanger to experience the city and see if it was for us. We lived in Kenitra near Rabat for nearly 2years and have spent time all the major cities, albeit for short periods. We haven’t lived in Marrakech so Best to let others comment, I would be mindful of the temperature it gets very hot in summer.
Back to Tanger, it is an amazing city, rent a place and try it out to see if it suits your family is my advice this is what we did.
Our experience and view from being there for 5 months and through summer was yes the traffic is busy, especially in the evening, expect the parks and green areas to busy, for example villa Harris would be very busy on an evening and weekend, but in saying that it’s so nice to see families out enjoying themselves. But in reality expect traffic, however Tanger isn’t that big and it does move.
Beaches are plentiful, a short drive and you will find  spacious beach’s, we were living near Marjane and most evenings after work we would take the short drive to Achakar and our 2yr old loved it.
We really like Tanger and we will spend more time there in the future, to live there full time it wasn’t for us but for holidays yes 100%.

All what the member @petersonic  said is true about tanger , its my city too .
There is some other places that calm and not lot of traffic and close to the beach , we still have green places a lot in the city which blessed .
About Marrakech city its attractive by tourists but the weather is hot really , i don't know if you and the kids can support it really .
And no beach just those big pools and so it's up on you to decide if want city with sea or not .
People on Marrakech are friendly too like tanger .
You welcome to morocco , if you need any more information you are free to ask and we are here to help .
