@Ian1272 We are lucky, and have a numbered home on a named street, with many homes displaying addresses.  Very easy to input into the ordering page for delivery.  But, Starlink accepted a Q+ code from Google maps as the service location of our future home, so also very easy.

@sberger50, monthly fees have dropped to $2,900, or $55 US, so close to what we would be paying Delancer for 20/6 mb/s.

Uncle Buck thank you for the update! We’ve been waiting to hear about others personal experiences. We are planning to go with Starlink as well. Just waiting for the final touches on our villa to finalize before setting it up. I believe the initial set up was a bit on the costly and the monthly is only $55 for DR correct? In the states it’s $110/mo. Looking forward to more updates!

@UncleBuck

Hi,

can you give detailed explanation how you ordered?

If I enter the residential address, the system asks for cedula, and I don't have one.

If I use the map location, it doesn't ask for cedula.

Please advise. i think we can get in touch with DHL for shipping directions.

Thank you!

UncleBuck

@Dima Sk As I've said, Starlink's system accepts Q+ code from Google Maps.  Very easy, copy and paste.  For both installation and delivery location.  DHL will contact you separately for delivery, from my experience.

Dima Sk

@UncleBuck Thank you for your response.

19.775372, -70.668952 this is Q+ code as I understand.

Also I was able to set the location on Starlink website and add the residential address below it. no cedula required.

UncleBuck

@Dima Sk Those are the GPS coordinates, but if it works, it works.  The Q+ code on Maps actually starts with "Q....+.....".  I have no idea what it means, but it works, too.

Dima Sk

@UncleBuck Yeah. it works.

However, it is still asking for Cedula number for the billing.

I just want to put my friend's cedula number. I don't have one.

Dima Sk

Ive ordered it. Used my friends cedula. it appears on the invoice.

Waiting for the order to be fulfilled. Payment went through

Dima Sk

@UncleBuck I placed the order, they charged my credit card and the order is in preparation status.

When it's changed for you to shipping?

Did you get any notifications to your email?

UncleBuck

@Dima Sk Yes, they email when it is shipped, and send you the DHL tracking info which is updated regularly.  I ordered the ethernet adapter, and it was delivered just 1 day late.  Very good for this country!

Dima Sk

I got email that my Starlink is shipped. Just two days after the order placement. Estimated arrival 20 September.

Robbie123

After all the years putting up with our crappy internet here in rural Cabrera. We just ordered our Starlink system......hope its worthwhile!

Ian1272

All this news of orders and deliveries of Star Link in the DR, is very encouraging :)

Rudestan

@UncleBuck hi and congratulations and thank you for sharing your journey. Any update so far? Are you still satisfied ? Did you have to hook it to your personal router? Any downtime while using it? Any difference in speed during peak time, daytime vs nighttime?

Rudestan

@Dima Sk congratulations!!

keep us updated.

UncleBuck

@Rudestan We still haven't mounted it in a permanent location.  With the hurricane forecasted to arrive, we knew we would be taking the dish in to keep it safe.  It is still in a partially obstructed location, but for web surfing, streaming and such, it does fine.  Our son is visiting and he's a gamer, so the drops in connectivity affect him more so he's still connected to DeLancer internet.  I plan on a better mounting location this weekend, depending on this next storm system forming in the south.  Speeds are much better, and there doesn't seem to be a peak usage issue.  Very happy with the product so far, I'm not sure how it would've fared in the storm yesterday, but glad we decided to take the dish inside.

Dima Sk

@UncleBuck Thanks A LOT

@Dima Sk Excellent!

Ian1272

This is so great to hear everyone is enjoying their Starlink in the DR.  I have been waiting with my deposit paid for almost two years now here in Ontario Canada and Starlink is telling me it’s now middle of 2023 before we can get it here.

I truly hope my wife and I are living in the DR, before the middle of 2023.

Robbie123

Finally got the email my Starlink has shipped!

Robbie123

Temporarily set out on the patio and speed is awesome. Well over 150mbs downloads and 40 uploads. So happy to have good internet finally!

Ian1272

@Robbie123

this must be so exciting, getting Starlink and enjoying these speeds.  I understand the speeds will continue to get faster and faster :))

Enjoy it to the max !!!

T.DRRR

@Robbie123 How did you order? when i tried to purchase it gave me issues with the delivery address? did you route it to come to a DHL location?

Robbie123

@T.DRRR As we have no address in the Dominican Republic we used the Google maps location code J34P etc etc that gave the exact location for service and ordering. We did fill in the rest of the location city, Province etc. Shopped here by DHL then third party courier to our door. All toll it took about two weeks for the initial delivery. So happy with this!

T.DRRR

@Robbie123 Nice no surprise taxes with customs or anything?

Robbie123

No nothing extra. Just the initial cost! Included delivery to my house! Seamless!

Go-Felt

I have an EPS account that is in Miami. Starlink says it appears to be an invalid address.

How did you get the hardware shipped to the DR?

UncleBuck

@Go-Felt put in the Q+ code from Google Maps.  You'll need a cédula number as well in order to complete the transaction.  If you ship it to Miami, you'll have to pay all the import fees, and I am thinking Starlink assumes it would be an American address for operating the dish as well.

Robbie123

Yes with the code from Google maps ships directly to your door!

JohnY23

what is the ping that everyone is getting?

ARTISTAVIPMUSIC

@UncleBuck hey question where do you put the Q+ code from Google Maps on which line in the order page there's 3 lines SHIPPING ADDRESS, SHIPPING ADDRESS LINE 2, SHIPPING ADDRESS LINE 3? Where do you put that code I have mines already where do I put it also how do you find your zip code thanks.

UncleBuck

@ARTISTAVIPMUSIC I would put it in the first line of the address field.  As for your Postal Code, Google maps will tell you that as well.  Select a business wherever you are located, and use that.  Good luck!

Guest5789

I have ordered on October 6th and still no tracking info.

SolYCerveza

I am in Sosua and ordered Starlink.  For this area I am being put on a waitlist showing coming in 2023 but no more granular information than that.  Has anyone else experienced this?  If yes, did you get off of the waitlist quickly or are you still sitting there with no shipping date?

ddmcghee

We got ours in December, before the waitlist started. We have a friend here in LT that helped a bunch of other folks order and install their systems, but by the time he got around to ordering, he was waitlisted! He mentioned Q2 2023, so just 1-3 months more for him.

marielleetguillaume

Hi everyone !

I'm actively looking for an alternative solution to get a good internet connexion ! Starlink seems to be one of the solution but i wasn't very excited by the +50% customs taxes when you buy something that cost more than 200$, and after reading all the comments, it seems like it doesn't apply on Starlink orders,

is it still the case in late 2023?

Can anyone gives some feebacks on Starlink orders/process made recently please, that would really help and i'm sure many other persons are in the same position than me !

Last question, is it mandatory to have a dominican bank account or can you use a foreign one ?

I would love to talk to someone that made the all thing using whatsapp or another app

Have a great day

snowinpalm

What is the cost now in the DR for the unit and how much a month for the basic package?
