A card renewal

Post new topic

I am staying in Belgium for 4 years now , I recently applied for the renewal of my A card and it was renewed only for a year . Usually it is for 3 years . Does any one know the reason that it has been renewed only for a year. My husband received a B card few months back .

@Anjali4455 hi, are you applying based on your work? if so do you have an unlimited contract? for work based residence the expiration is 2 years max, or the length of your contract, whatever is longer. So if you got a contract for 1 more year then that is possibly the reason. Never heard of the 3 years for work residence.

Hope it helps

@IgnacioEg  i am dependent here . But i am working. Las time I receive a card which was valid for 3 years . But this time it’s only for a year

Bah.... technically after 5 years of stay you'll get your permanent resident card...

There's no reason for the administration to grant you a new 3 years card, knowing you'll ask to become a permanent resident before your new card expire

I got 3 year A card, although i will be completing 5 years in 2023. I am single permit holder not dependent.
