Cutting down trees in Dominican Republic

I live near Sosua, I’ve a dead tree on my property, it threatens my villa and or municipal power lines if it were to fall. Is a permit required here to cut down a dead tree?

Good question. Best ask the municipality or a local lawyer.

As Planner said, check with your municipality! Removing a royal palm, even a dead/damaged one can be an ordeal, and I’ve heard of folks getting in trouble for taking down other trees without approval.

In Moca, I had a large live tree on my property and was advised to go to local municiple office which I did. They had a process/forms to fill out. As it turned out, my relatives removed it prior to the wall being built around th e property. To date several municilpe officials have stopped by the property but nothing said about the former tree....
