Visiting Cebu City

Hi Mike,

I cannot answer your question regarding meet up's but if you do happen to take a disliking to Cebu and do decide to launch to other SE Asian countries, I will be in Da Nang from 13 March for 10 nights and would be happy to meet for a coffee or a few beers.

I do wish you well in Cebu though and hope you like it there.

Hi Mike,

Welcome to the Forum. Ayala mall has several coffee shops. Last time I was in Cebu  (8 years ago?) I stayed at the Marriott, a stones throw away.

The layout may well have changed but there was a coffee shop in the main thoroughfare of the Mall (Bo's ?) where you could sit and watch the world go by. A bunch of expats would meet there regularly. A good place to people watch and meet single Filipinas walking past. Big big smile, wave her over, and most of the time she will join you for a Café.

If you want to meet the movers and shakers of Cebu City check out Jazz 'n Bluz on Cabahug St, Ayala Access Rd, where you will be immersed in a real authentic Filipino experience. Very few expats but several Filipino business types with there glamorous wives who often will make conversation with you if you stand at the bar. Cover fee which I recall includes a drink.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned an exit ticket, It's more than likely your air carrier will not board you unless you show proof of an exit ticket from the Philippines.

Good point, Bob. Yes, OP, you will need a return or "onward" ticket, there are some sites that can provide one or just buy a cheap disposable ticket to Hong Kong or somewhere else nearby.

They want to see that you're planning to exit the country within 30 days. I generally buy a changeable round trip ticket and just extend the return once I'm in country.
