US Embassy Friend or Foe?

Post new topic

I would like to share my experience. On Saturday I contacted the embassy and told them I felt like I was involved in a scam and felt in danger. The person I talked to sounded to me to be an American. I had to repeat my phone number 5 times before he got it right. Finally I said "young man please focus" you can say that when you are 71. He transfered me to duty officer. He said if the call dropped, he would call back. After 15 mins. On hold the call dropped. They did get back with me 4 days later to check on me. Luckily I worked out my problems and settlement on my own, but if I hadn't I could have easily grown cement shoes and thrown off the bridge. In My case the embassy is all talk and no action. Back in Texas where I am from we have a saying "You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig." Just saying, it is not only the Dominican hussle you need to worry about.

I am sorry you had this experience.  I would report this. It doesn't get better if we don't say anything.
