Moving to Grenoble - accomodation, suggestions, etc?

Hello all,


My wife and I will be moving to Grenoble this November and we are hoping to get some advise from all of you here. This is oir first time in France and any help will be greatly appreciated.


  • Regarding rental accomodations, any suggestions on areas in Grenoble that would be safe and have reasonable rentals?
  • Our rental budget is maximum 1000 euros per month for a 1or 2 bedroom unit or a studio. Does anybody know of a property agent or rental agency we could get in touch with?
  • How does the rental process work? Do we pay security deposit and 1 month's rent as advance and then pay rent on a monthly basis OR do we pay 1 year's rent upfront as a lumpsum payment?
  • How much cash would be recommended for 2 people to manage 2 months of initial expenses, since we would not have a bank account initially.
  • Any other suggestions regarding moving into Grenoble will be greatly appreciated.

Hello Saumitra,


I see that you had previously opened a similar thread but got no response. I think that this anglophone forum is quite inactive.


I would suggest that you consider using google translate to translate your text in French and post it on the french speaking forum Grenobleto get some feedback.


Posts will be in french but then again you can easily translate them using google translate.
