My husband and I had intentions of moving this past summer of 2023 but we had a health situation that postponed our plans. This also threw a curve ball as to our children’s ages when we relocate.

We are now looking to relocate in 3 years should everything go smoothly.

Have any of you made the move with a 12 almost 13 year old? In 3 years my other children will be 10 almost 11, 7 and 5.

I’m a little nervous about my oldest 2. We’d be moving them right before 8th and 6th grade. We will travel to DR every summer and what not but I am just little worried about his age.

I guess I’m just looking for advice.

So what are the worries about the age?

And what do your children think about the move?

I was an expat at 10-12 ( Saudi Arabia, 40 years ago). The decision to move was only made after everyone in the family was positive about the adventure. I had the best time of my life.

Also growing up with other cultures has helped me to develop a more open mindset, which I found to be a great asset to have.
