France residence form to add my name to the address

I am staying with a friend and would like to add my name to their address so I can receive mail.  Also, I will need a form, or something,  to indicate that this is my France address for my visa.

The person I am staying with said they "think" they had to previously sign a form from "LaPoste"  or some France agency, to indicate that I am living at the address to share the mailbox, "or was it for a visa?". They were not sure which form and if it was for mail or a Visa address verification and who provided it.

I wrote "LAPOSTE" and the French embassy but never received an answer from either.

I am hoping someone who has gone through this process can help.

just get your friends to add your name on their letterbox

otherwIse include

’chez M/Mme xxxxx’ (=c/-) in your address

Your fr needs to write ’une attestation’ saying you live with them. they can verify their attestation with the Maire. they need to include a copy if the identity card and a recent utilities bill

@adrie14 I'm pretty sure this is unnecessary unless you're applying for a carte de sejour or a carte vitale,  which you're not. Just add your name to your friend's mailbox.

For your visa application, you will need a three-part pack supplied by your friend, called an Attestation d'Hébergement - this is a letter (written to certain norms - see link below to an official pro forma), a copy of your friend's ID (passport or national ID card) and a bill (preferably utility) at the address to be used, in your friend's name (under 6 months old).

Otherwise, for your mail, as above, yes, just add your name to your friend's letterbox.

HOST NAME             ___________________________

                                 Signature

This should be all you need, plus photocopy of the host's ID and proof of residence (rent receipt, utility bill).

If your host is renting, there is a right to invite a person to stay free of charge. By all means, do not pay anything.

Your mention of a visa is a mystery, Visas are done before arrival.

@nicole8535 Agreed. This is what I had to do. I just had my visa appointment and it worked fine. The only question they asked was how I knew this person.
