Purchasing apartment in Morroco need help

Post new topic

Hi,

I am thinking of purchasing a property in Morocco. I have a basic understanding of the fees involved an that I need a Notary to overlook everything in depth etc.

However, I spoke to a Moroccan Lawyer who warned me against getting a Moroccan OFFPLAN property where they are building the property and expect you to pay them every 6 months or every year until completion. Has anyone ever purchased a property like this before?

Or would you just reccomend me buying directly off a seller?

@ZackA93 From every thing I have read don't commit to anything like that you will lose your money. I am trying to buy one myself, once you pay you can't back out and also make sure there are not debt associated with the apartment because the debt follows the apartment not the person, everything must be written down, don't do verbal agreement no matter how small you think it is

@ZackA93 Off-plan property purchase is not yet a regulated or reliable scheme in Morocco.

These projects are often fraught with significant delays and no guarantee of refunds if the build fails to complete.

If you have time - and I mean years - to wait for a unit and cash to burn in the event the project fails, then it could be a risk you’re ok taking.

Building any property in Morocco requires you to be on site often.  It’s just not a hands off process.
