Question regarding UWV (Employee Insurance Agency)

Hi, I have a question regarding UWV requirements. I applied for GVVA application, and planning to start the internship from September 1st for 5 months. I have all the documents in order, but UWV has raised some questins about my housing: I have a self-arrangement of the housing, and also an alternative option of the employer's accommodation, but they have not made the offer yet and will make it until the end of September. I tried to explain this to UWV, saying that my self-arrangement allows me to stay throughout the whole period of my work, but they told me it should be the internship provider who arranges the housing. I do not understand what is the issue here, if I already have a place to stay, what is the problem?

Please let me know if you are aware of this matter, any advice would help.

Could IND still reconsider my application and accept my housing situation if UWV rejects the application for this very reason?

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

This is all about risk and the potential for you becoming a burdon on the State should things not work out for you; UWV are part of the process, it's them who would become financially responsible for you.  If the employer takes on the commitment to provide you with housing for the duration of the time you are with them, then their is no risk to the Dutch taxpayer, all your accommodation costs (risk) would fall on them.

IMO, if UWV do not support your proposal/application, you have little to no chance of IND going ahead with your GVVA.

I hope this helps.

@Cynic Thank you for your response! Just to clarify, this self-arrangement is staying at my friend's family's place, which is also indicated in my application. Do you think the same rules you stated would apply to this context?

You're dealing with the Government.  If one of their requirements (rules) is that in the event you lose your accommodation, then for whatever reason, somebody can be held responsible to accomodate you, without recourse to the State, then it is a rule and in the tick-box world we live in, if there is not a tick in that box, then your application goes no further until the box is ticked.  Perhaps look at this from the viewpoint of they are also protecting you?
