Hi,

I'm a resident on Panglao hoping someone can help with information on where I can get motorbike licence plates made up. I've just applied for and received my official registration papers for my motorbike. I was expecting to get my licence plates at the same time but I've been advised that because of LTO backlogs I could be waiting a long time. I've been told I can get official plates made in a shop close to the TagB LTO. Does anyone know where that might be? (or any other place that can make up official licence plates). There appears to be 3 LTOs in TagB so I'm already lost.

Any info gratefully received.

Thanks

John

Hi John Peacock and welcome to the forum.

Just an observation but the better half purchased a new Mio over 5 years ago, never received a plate in the 4 years before selling it simply had copies of all the paperwork in a zip lock bag under the seat and went through all the road side stops without a problem, only happened a few times and the laugh is that the LTO plates came over 5 years after purchase and a year after replacing it with a Raider, the plates came for the new bike in under 2 months, nothing is simple here, no rhyme or reason. If you really want plates you can order them on Shopee or Lazada and have them delivered, good luck and relax.

Cheers, Steve.

(1) Renewed my drivers license, they had no plastic blanks so they issued me paper in February.

(2) E-mails to LTO went answered.

(3) A visit to LTO in September still no plastic.

(4) I've spent more on Grab fares trying to get the plastic license than the cost of the physical & renewal.

The LTO in Dumaguete had a delivery of plastic wallets a few months ago. Word got out and the queue at their office stretched around two blocks🙄

There are shops all over the Philippines that make plates.  Ask around and the Filipinos in your area will be able to direct you to the closest one.  I had to get a plate for my bike.  I did not understand when my Filipino friend said go to any shop that makes them.  They laser print them on adhesive material, stick it to the plate and then put a protective transparent cover on it and install it on your vehicle for under 250P if I remember correctly.

You choose the color size material and shape of the plate from what the shop offers.  Not like the Motor Vehicle office back home.

Cheers,

Donald

I did mine in Cebu at the "gov't employees and elderly" office. A small place that was not overly crowded. I did mine in May or June of 23. The contractor making the plastic cards was the issue and they changed companies. But they also told me it would be close to a year. I went back after a year and the office was barely open, being torn down soon, and everything relocated. So about 2 weeks ago I went back to the city to the office that was supposed to now have my card. No problem! Only took 16 months? lol
