Hello, My name is Jules and I have a grown daughter that lives in the Netherlands with her Dutch boyfriend and their son.  I plan on moving there in June of July of 2025.  I will need to work while living there.  Is it too soon to apply for jobs?

Hello Juliekeeler,

Welcome to Expat.com 1f600.svg

It is great that you are planning ahead for your move to the Netherlands. While June or July 2025 might feel a bit early to apply for jobs, it is never too early to start researching the job market, understanding requirements, and preparing your CV to fit the Dutch work culture.

I suggest you start by reading our Living in the Netherlands guide for expats where you will find all the essential information you need before your move.

Feel free to keep us updated on your plans, we would love to hear how things are progressing!

All the best,

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

I think it's a bit early to look for a job, my advice would be to check that any qualifications you have are recognised in the Netherlands and whether you need to update/refresh anything.  You could also join something like LinkedIn and reach out to your peers to find out who is hiring and, probably more importantly, where these companies are, then send them your CV a bit nearer the time you are going to move.  In the meantime, save some money to tide you over the first few months you are there.

I hope this helps.
