Looking for a couple that lived in Singapore in the 1990's

Post new topic

goexuma

Hello all,

I am trying to locate Colin M*** and/or Yoko K***.  They lived at 565B EAST COAST ROAD

IVORY APARTMENTS SINGAPORE (429080) apartments in the 1990's

He is Britsh and she is Japanese.

He also had a business address at 11A St Thomas Walk Singapore

Mr M*** published a magazine called Asian Aviation Magazine.  The company that published it was called Asian Aviation Publications

The company was struck off in 2004.

The reason I am looking for him or her or any heirs is because he purchased a property in the caribbean in 1981 and never returned.

I am interested in purchasing said property.

Thanks

You should contact the Singapore authorities - they sure have records of him and his business. Whether they know anything about his current whereabouts is of course unsure (especially if he left the country), but maybe something useful might come up!

Alternatively (but I guess you already did that) the authorities of the Caribean country might have his contact details - after all, there is typically a yearly property tax and other fees.

Thanks for replying

I already got copies of his business records; thats how I discovered his home address, the other address was used to purchase the property.

The country where the propertyy is located has no record of him after the sale.  There was no enforcement of property taxes or yearly fee; the gov has not to this day attempted to collect or stay in touch with owners of vacant land.

Thank you for replying

@goexuma Since the said building (Ivory Apartments) still exists and (due to the price and formal requirements) few foreigners buy such a place without long-term plans, it might be an idea to contact the property management. But for that you'd need the unit number (not just the building 465B).

goexuma

That was my plan, but I can't find a phone number for the condo association.

How can I get the numbret for them?

Thanks

beppi

@goexuma Good question. Probably more detective work needed here. Good luck!

goexuma

Do you know if Ivory Apartments have a reception number, and how would be the best way to find it.

Thanks

beppi

@goexuma Check their website (if there is one)!

The easiest would of course be going there and asking the security guards (which most Condos have, despite Singapore being the safest place on earth).

goexuma

Any chance that you live in Singapore and would be willing to go there and ask for the number?

THanks

beppi

@goexuma Sorry, I no longer live in Singapore. But you can possibly engage a detecive agency or similar.

goexuma

I talked to a detective agency, crazy price, at least 2000USD to go there and ask for a number

I  don't have that kind of money to throw around hoping that they do there job.

By the way, that was a base price.

I need to look for other alternatives.

beppi

@goexuma The property you are planning to buy will certainly cost more, right?

Well, then you will have to find another way. Good luck!

@beppi

Its not just the money, itt's as much to do with being milked and then not getting the answer I need

For $2K US, you could fly there yourself.

I know it's a long shot, but have you tried contacting these guys? According to their website, they were publishing concurrently with your subject's magazine. My experience has been that pilots tend to be a tightly knit group, so hopefully you'll get some leads.

Best of luck, fellow Canuck.

goexuma

These guys are where I started my search, the Publisher claims that he knows nothing about them, but there are a few things about his story that just don't add up.

I am not the first person to try to locate this gentleman, others have been looking for hiim as well..  In fact I spoke to a person involved with his home residence who at first said he didn't live there any more, then changed their story to knowing nothing.

beppi

If this person doesn‘t want to be found, which is what it seems like, then you won‘t find him - unless you spend far mor than 2000$.

My honest advice: Look for another property to buy!

goexuma

I don't think thats the case, more likely they were just another expat that spent some time in Singapore and then left.

I already know they were in Malysia for a brief stint.

And besides, I still have other sources that I haven't used yet.

I hate giving up and now its more about the hunt than anything else.

By the way, mind telling me how long you lived in Sinapore, just curious.

beppi

@goexuma Off-topic, but I lived in Singapoe for 12 years - far longer than the average expat (2 - 4 years).

Somebody who buys an apartment here (at the grossly high prices) must have had far longer plans (or too much money), otherwise it's not worth it.

goexuma

Thanks for the insight, helps me refine my search criteria

By the way,did you ever know any Gibsons during your time there?

beppi

Oh yes, I myself owned a Gibson Les Paul for a while. They are available in the major music stores!

goexuma

What about Gibson's bar lol
