Lots of British schools out in KL: Nexus, Alice Smith, Garden International, and British to name but a few. They are all reputable but there are also a lot of "international" schools that use the British curriculum and aren't so good! (there's a big price difference, so easy to tell apart).
Lots of areas that are good to live: Bangsar, Ampang, Mont Kiara and Damasara are popular with expats, but loads of other nice places too....Country Heights, IOI, Desa Park, Taman Seputeh. You are spoilt for choice!
Live close to work or school though as travelling can be a little difficult.
Good luck with the move,
Jo

The main issue is that after the government allowed anyone to send their children to an international school they all filled up. Basically huge waiting lists for all of them. Mine is new this year and we have a huge waiting list and parents told me they tried all the above and all the rest. Same in all. New schools are being built as we sppeak but demand is high! And therefore prices will rise.....

We are planning to relocate from Dubai to Malaysia 2012.  My 2 concerns are schooling and job opportunities.

Does anyone know of good british schools for my girls (Gr.9 & 7) close to Damansara area.  I have checked KDU but it's way too expensive.  What is the average annual costs for school fees and does the schools provide transport.

Appreciate the feedback.

Nemodot

Hi KDU is relatively cheap and as all schools full you will have totake what you can get. Transport is extra as is everything else in Malaysia! parents spend a lot more than the fees it seems.

As far as jobs are concerned if you arrive looking for a job forget it you won't get one like that.

British school fees for a grade 7 average around 40,000-50,000 RM/ year for the likes of Alice Smith,Garden International etc. Bus fees are on top of this, as well as after school clubs, music lessons etc. Prices increase as the children get older.
Deposits are about 1 terms fees plus a registration fee of around RM20,000.
Often school fees are covered by the employer.
Nemodot is right....get the job first, then they will sort out the visas and you can negiotate a good package and relocation...if you come out here looking for a job, things could be difficult!
