Importing Personal Possessions - Form AP 2

Post new topic

Has anyone recently shipped over personal possessions? This is for our relocation move.

In section D where you list contents of boxes etc, how did you value your possessions? Clothes and general household goods have very little monetary value in reality. How did you go about this task?

thanks

I used what I thought a boot sale value would be and most I put as no commercial value. The shipping company should be able to help more.

I have not done this moving to Cyrus but I have moving too and from Australia.

I think you need to think of this more along the lines of what would it cost me to replace these things. I know it sounds obvious but you would be surprised how many people move "stuff" for the sake of moving it rather than having a big clear out and just moving the important stuff. Typically the shipping company will charge a premium for shipping insurance if it is coming by ship so its not cheap which is another reason for minimizing what you are bringing over. At the end of the day it comes down to whether you are willing to take a gamble of you container falling off the ship on the way.
