Proving *exclusive* relationship (recently divorced)

Post new topic

So, my partner and I are in a bit of unusual situation where he's currently in the process of getting divorced, after which we'll want to apply for a partnership visa. We, however, have been dating for 5 years and can prove this with chat logs, tweets, etc. This was all done with the consent with everyone involved, but we're very worried that the IND won't care about this and that they'll just look at the dates on the papers and reject the visa application.

I figured I'd post here on the off chance someone has some insight into this. My partner is trans in Oklahoma, so there's an extra added pressure situation right now considering the USA is getting more and more dangerous to live in, hence the *added* stress of rejection.

So, yeah, any experiences, tips on what proof to sent, etc, would be incredibly appreciated. Much thanks!

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

The Dutch Government (IND) have issued a document that contains all the questions they will ask you; this link will take you straight to it.

If you read it, focus on these things, particularly the first paragraph, not anything else like the things you mention.  Answer the questions honestly, clearly, and provide all the evidence you can.

I hope this helps.

@Cynic

thank you kindly for your answer!

We have talked to the vreemdelingenloket at het juridisch loket and while they didn't mention this questionnaire, they did mention we could and probably will get questions about the date on the single status affidavit being way more recent than those 5 years we've been together. We're unsure of what to answer if they do.

I hear you that we should focus on the questions in the application, that is immensely helpful!

My opinion. Tell the truth.
