Advice on job search

Hello!

I move to Ho Chi Minh on the 6th of January and start a TESOL course at the beginning of February.

I have a room arranged for the duration of the course and plan during this time to look for a job and room for when I complete the course.

Can schools give conditional job offers providing I complete the TESOL course or would I have to wait until I have completed it before I start looking for work?

Does anyone have any tips on the best way of finding accommodation? eg. going to a travel agent or looking independently online.

Any opinions/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Michael

Hi Michael, congrats on making the decision to move here and good luck with the course.
I'm guessing from your previous post that you don't hold a degree? If I'm wrong sorry.
Without a degree most of the major schools wont touch you, however all is not lost. Once you've completed your course and in some cases without even that, you should be able to find work relatively easily within the language centers and privately should you wish.
When do you
Prior to arrival compose your CV and include the TESOL (lets eb positive and assume your gonna pass it) Then you can start getting round to the centers and submitting your CV. Things can and do move a little slowly at times so sooner you start applying the better.
Accommodation get in touch with a local realtor (real estate agent) and tell them what you want etc and they will line up some properties for you to look at. Are you looking to share or find somewhere on your own?
Also might be worth posting int he classifieds for accommodation.

Any more questions just shoot :) Plenty of people on here who know there way around :)

Hi Laidback,

Thank you very much for the advice.

Yeah sorry for not being more specific, by schools I do mean language centers.
That's good news, I'll make sure I update it before I go!

I'm not too sure really, If I do just look for a room I ideally would like somewhere with 2 beds for visitors from home.

I think I'll have a look and see if I can find a reasonably priced apartment or go for a spacious room.

Thanks for your help!
