Renting with a cat in Istanbul

Post new topic

Hi all! I'm new to this forum having recently decided to move to Istanbul in August, Im pretty confident I'll love it but I do have one concern- I have a pet cat (he is more like a furry child that walks on all fours to me hehe) and I was wondering if it would be difficult renting a flat as a pet owner?
Currently in Sydney most landlords won't allow pets especially indoors- is the situation similar in turkey?
I love my baby and couldn't part with him easily

Hi Vicky,

You don't worry about your baby:) A lot of people has a cat in home in Turkey.

As you probably already know by now, most people are animal lovers here. I rented out 4 places here and cats where never a problem, dogs maybe. Don't worry about it!

Hi Vicky,
I moved here a few months ago with two cats and a dog and have since acquired a third cat. I have met a lot of people here with either dogs or cats living in apartments - it doesn't seem to be an issue. Bringing the animals in was no problem either - they accompanied me on the same flight and I was able to walk out with them - noone even wanted to look at them or my paperwork and no extra money was required.

Where was your embarkation point? Did you come from the US? And by the way, THY are not part of the UK DEFRA scheme.
