Mums & Tots Meet Ups

Post new topic

xjenniferjaynex

Hi everyone. I have just moved over with our 8 month old daughter on saturday. My partner has been here for 2 months and is heading back to work on Monday. Would love to meet some Mums & Tots in the St Julians/Sliema area. We live in San Gwann. Or if anyone could recommend a mums & tots group that has a weekly meet up?

Thanks

Jennifer

Hi, There is a group of ladies with toddlers meet up on a Wednesday at palyzone, Sliema. I don't go myself as kids are older but there does a good few there and you will meet woman with kids of the same age.. All from Ireland and the UK (I think, might be wrong) could be worth a shot for you guys..

Hi,
Thought I would let you know about the Playzone meet ups. We always meet on Wednesdays from 3pm till 5pm.
Most of us were from the UK when the meet ups began (around 9 months ago), but now the group is a mix of nationalities.
The ages of the children vary. My daughter is the youngest at 10 days old and the oldest child is 6 years old. All the children play very well together (usually!)
Playzone is a safe environment. Refreshments are available, but the owner lady is quite happy for us to bring our drinks and snacks for the children. It costs 2.50 per hour, I think.
Some of the mums meet up often for dinner, wine, coffee and a chat. When the weather gets a bit cooler we will be arranging family beach days and picnics too.
Some of us have been here for just a few weeks, some for years but we are all generally in the same position of having no family here and interested in having fun!
All are welcome. If you feel a bit shy just ask for me, Natalie or Kath. We will make you feel welcome!

Damsel

I forgot to say, you dont have to have any kids to join us. Anyone can come, especially if you are feeling a bit lonely, new to the island or just want to meet some nice new people. All are welcome!

Hi everyone,
I ve been browsing through the internet and found this interesting website.  Although i'm Maltese, i ve been living in London for the past 6 years and we've just returned back to Malta.  We've been living in Sliema for the past 3 weeks and still slowly trying to settle down.  I've got 2 girls, one turned 3 years old this year and the other turned 1 year this year.  I m still trying to find my feet here in Malta.  I don't know if it's possible to catch up with you.  It would be nice to still have British links since i miss the idea of multi culturalism and hanging out with people from other Nationalities.  Besides my husband works abroad most of the time so it would be great to meet up with other mums.

Hi Claire,

welcome to the forum.

I'm sure will be a welcome newbie at the mums & kids group. Just go along on a Wednesday to Playzone and ask or contact some of the members by PM.

Cheers
Ricky

Hi,

I'm moving to Malta in October - I have a 1 year old son and hope to be able to join you all at the Playzone meetups as soon as I dare drive there on my own (hubby will be working)!

Is there anywhere for parking nearby? We'll be living in Birzebugga so will need to drive.
Will investigate with my hubby before going it alone, but thought I'd ask those in the know :D

xjenniferjaynex

I'm not completely sure about parking but some of the ladies do drive and I think some park up a side street. Buses over here are pretty cheap. Once you have your ID card it is 1.50euro for a day pass. Before that it's 2.60euro. And that means you can get anywhere on the island for the whole day. If you want to know any more about the buses before you drive (and i wouldnt blame you) let me know and I will try to point you in the right direction. Hope to see you at playzone in the near future :D

Thanks for the info Jennifer!

I do need to look into the bus routes - for that price I'd be silly to not at least try the service out!

Are they ok for travelling with a little one - not even used a bus here since he arrived lol x

Damsel

I go to Playzone and parking is not easy. Sliema is very busy and it usually takes me a while to find a space. Taking the bus from Birzebugga would take a while and whilst Im not sure, you may have to change at Valletta.

Thanks for your comments Damsel :)

I had thought it may take a while on the bus, lol. Ah well - I'm sure I'll get used to the driving / parking situation soon enough - until then, I have a few friends who may give us a lift then hubby can pick us up later.
Will work something out :)
