Is IDR 24,600,000 a good amount to survive in Jakarta? House & Commuiting is taken care of seperately. My lifetstyle is limited to watching movies; no drinking no partying. Please help.

Fred

Usual answer.
Minimum wage is Rp1,500,000.

Take a guess. :)

It's much more than what you need. Totally, trust me!

Should be adequate if only spend on necessities.  You can get a room in a boarding house for average of IDR3 million.  Food is quite expensive here.

You must be joking.
I bought an especially good chicken fried rice yesterday at Rp12,000.
I usually pay around 8,000 for run of the mill stuff.

My lunchie in every single day only around IDR8,000 until 15,000
With vegetables, side dish, chicken or beef or fish

Quite OK for the taste and price :)

Fred

Dominos pizza.
I'm munching right now at a cost of Rp20,000.

Really sure, that you can survive in Jakarta.

But, everything will depend on your lifestyle as well.

My expatriate friend has salary around IDR 5,000,000,- only...He is still alive until now... :)

If your housing is covered, that's more than enough to live on.  If you eat local food rather than imported and don't drink alcohol, you can even save a nice chink of that each month.
My advice is to hire a maid, and let her do the shopping for you.  they know where to get cheap good local foods and will save you money.  a good maid will cost less than 1jt per month.
good luck!

Its good enough :)
