Applying for an ID card after 90 days?

Post new topic

SummerRaine

Just a quick question really. Time has flown past and I just realised that we are over 90 days(just) and we haven't yet applied for our ID cards. We are set to go tomorrow to do so but am concerned that I should have done it sooner, is it okay to be over the 90 day mark? We have been here for 96 days. I was going to go on Friday but I assumed they would be closed due to the holiday.

Also I have set aside my passport and marriage certificate, do I need anything else?

Hi Summer,

you don't even have to apply for the ID card.

It is the residency that you have to apply for but I've not actually heard of any arrests or deportations of EU citizens for not doing so -)))

But you should do it soon to become a legal resident.

Ah thanks, so if I go to the ID office for my ID card, they will also direct me where to go for the residency certificate too?

ricky

No,

these are two different authorities that don't really care about each other. They might know where it is but I would not count on that. Maltese don't have to go there .

For residency you will have to apply at the DCEA in Valletta.

Cheers
