Hi

I am reading for an MSc in Finance, and as part of my dissertation, I am conducting a survey to determine the demand for healthy meals provided by a quick-service (fast food) restaurant in Malta which publishes the nutritional information of its meals.

The survey is web-based and user friendly, and consists of 10 questions which you should be able to complete in less than 3 minutes. Should you have some time to spare, I would greatly appreciate your input in this regard as your opinion certainly counts. Kindly note that your responses will remain completely confidential. Below kindly find a link to the online survey.

Please feel free to forward this to anyone you feel would be interested to participate, including students, housewives, full and part-time employees, retirees, etc. provided they are living in Malta.

Hi decachia,

welcome to the forum.

I hope you get a lot of participants as the topic sounds very interesting although some of the questions are a bit strange and the price range for snacks has to much emphasis on prices above 10 €.

I hope you come back and give us some insight on the results of your survey.

Cheers
Ricky

must admit i didnt think the questions were that bad but suspect this is for a business study for a potential outlet here rather than anything else.

Hi toon,

I didn't say the questions were bad - just 'strange' -)))

Like the one offering the University as an option to go out to ! Maybe someone wants to open a fast food place there !

Sounds a bit like marketing but the questionaire is for a degree in finances ......

Cheers

Hello decachia
I don't want to be negative, but I don't think you are going to find the answer you are looking for with the questions you have formulated. In question 9 the range of prices linked to the products on offer don't make sense. Also the products are very prescriptive, I don't think you get an idea of whether healthy meals are what people are looking for and prepared to pay for with these questions. Healthy fast foods aren't just burgers, wraps, chicken /fish salads. Sorry, but I wouldn't be prepared to tick those boxes. This research project doesn't 'feel' professional to me.  PS Have been involved in marketing research as well as food environment for over 30 years so do know a little bit about this:)

Hi

Thanks for all your comments - I really do appreciate all the positives and negatives. It is a survey for a dissertation (feasibility study to set up the restaurant) and I was limited to 10 free questions with SurveyMonkey (hence the combination of proper ‘meals’ vs snacks in question 9). Location is important, and being close to University guarantees demand during the scholastic year, hence the reason for the inclusion of University of Malta in question 6. Also the food items I chose were based on the menus of other healthy fast food restaurants such as Energy Kitchen, HealthFare, etc.

Thanks and feel free to add more comments + feedback.

Hi decachia - glad that you are treating feed-back as positive. Your point about location to the university is valid, although the area is also fairly industrial as well. Who would your target market be when the university is closed for holidays and weekends? The fast food restaurants you mention are American - different life style. Perhaps look at the menu for Angka Cafe in Marsa (refer Veggie Malta's blog in April 2012.) Those are the types of foods that would more acceptable to people looking for 'healthy' meals. One doesn't have to be a vegetarian to eat them - they can be a healthy supplement to one's main meat or fish meal in the evening at home or in a restaurant.
Keep us posted, it could be an interesting survey;)

Hi

During the Summer months when University students are on holiday, promotions will be made to target office employees via special offers/promotions etc. Weekends will be problematic unless a full scale promotional campaign is launched to encourage people to order a take away.

Thanks for all your suggestions - you seem to be quite knowledgeable on the subject:)
