Looking at job postings for Architecture related positions in Dubai

Looking around I see 'Salaries: Excellent + Benefits', what necessarily constitutes a good salary there? Is 40 000 AED enough to live comfortably there? Not sure. Currency translator tells me that 40 000 AED is about $12 000 Canadian? Is that enough?

Any help regarding finances in Dubai would be great.

Casually looking around at oppurtunities.

Thanks

Well, what is enough? :)

All depends on what benefits are given. The cost of living is very high. So if they provide a car, share part of your rent, schooling fees, moving fees, ticket back home, etc etc... that adds up quickly too. What guarantees do they give you? Employees are not well protected in Dubai. It is a highly competitive market. Make sure your contract protects you well.

How much do you pay for taxes in Canada for that 40,000AED?

How large is the family moving with you, that you have to support.. AED 40,000 is good for a single person, but if you need to put 10 kids in private school with it...

All in all, if it is 40,000 AED NET, that is a good salary.

If you are an architect, then Dubai is the probably the place to be at this moment.. You probably know of all the construction going on.. (what do they say again? half of the world's construction cranes are in Dubai at this moment?).

Hope this helps.
