Hi there, we are hoping to move over to Gozo from SA, both british passport holders. Do we need to go to UK to obtain a S1 form to continue our medication? Can anyone give me a rough quote as regards how much per month is required to live there (obviously omit entertainment etc) thanks    angie

Hi angie,

if you are receiving a UK pension you should contact

International Pension Centre
Tyneview Park
Whitley Road
Newcastle upon Tyne
NE98 1BA

Phone 0191 218 1999 (Monday to Friday 8am-5pm)

for details.

If you not receiving a UK pension and are living in South Africa you probably already have a S1 otherwise you should contact:

Overseas Healthcare Team (Newcastle)
Room TC001
Tyneview Park
Whitley Road
Newcastle upon Tyne
NE98 1BA

Phone 0191 218 1999 (Monday to Friday 8am-5pm)

to check if you qualify for a S1. You can receive free health care for up to 2 1/2 years after leaving the UK if you qualify. The UK is one of the few countries where free health care is based on residency. In Malta it is not!

Medication in Malta is only free for certain illnesses and if you qualify!

Cheers
Ricky

"Can anyone give me a rough quote as regards how much per month is required to live there" - some live on less than € 1000, others will tell you at least double - the biggest expenses will probably be rent/utilities/car

when you say "required", do you mean legally ?
