Hi All,

My husband is looking at opening up a restaurant in Bangsar and I need some advice about housing and schools. We are moving from Australia and would love some recommendations for the best places to live in Bangsar near an International school. The children are 7 & 8 and I was hoping for a school with similar curriculum to Melbourne.

We wont have a car so walking to school for us would be ideal.

I have looked at a few condos/apartments but dont even know where to start, and how much we will be spending. We don't have the luxury of a company paying for school and rent so I need the best deal !

Thanks heaps and any help would be great !

hi, have u checked out the australian international school. heard its quite good.

there r plenty of international schools for every budget. so u may need to clarify your budget to get specific options on the blog.

my opinion, a car is a must in kl. not everything is in walking distance. but agree that u shud first look for a suitable school and then find a secure condo near the area.

Hi Thanks for the reply.
Yes I have looked at the Aust International school and it looks quite good, however I was hoping someone could lead me in the right direction by recommending accommodation close to some international schools as well as recommending schools; possibly someone who has experience dealing in either.. Not being over in KL makes it a little hard and we do not have a budget we are working towards but the cheaper the better.

Hi, If you plan to live in Bangsar then I suggest you plan for a car.

The only Condo near Bangsar LRT is Gaya Bangsar. You can also look at Suasana, Bangsar. For all other options ( and better ones) you will have to move 2-3 kms away from Train station.

Sorry cant help you on Schools as I didn't explore them when I was staying in Bangsar.

Here is a list of all the international schools.

I think the Australian school is the only one that follows that curriculum.

There are no schools in Bangsar, but schools do provide busing options.  You can find the fee structures on most websites, but be aware that there may be waiting lists or entry examinations.

The nearest schools are
Mont'Kiara International School
The Alice Smith School
Global Indian International School

I just looked back at some other threads where best value schooling options were required:

We pay RM40,000 for my two daughters per year.  My daughters attend Tenby which is in Setia Alam. We travel 30 mins one way every day to get to school but they are coping fine with that.

It would be a 30 minute drive from Bangsar - you would have to check if there were busing options.

Some friends of ours opened a Mexican restaurant in Ampang and it took them over 6 months to actually get to the stage where they could open their doors because of all the issues with permits and licences etc.  Just a heads up of what to expect.  I guess you have seen this info:

Read about this school in Kajang that may have good fee rates.

Hi. I currently reside in bangsar. Was born here although I spent many years away. Would be pleased to help you in any way I can. I don't think there's an international school within walking distance from bangsar so a car would be a neccessiity. Don't hesitate to contact me if you need any further info. Regards.
