I am copying my last message:

You'd better buy japanese (toyota honda nissan) since they're most reliable and most widely used in mauritius, so it's easy to find parts is some brokes. Try to avoid diesel, turbo, LGP (liquid gaz), try to buy a car that has had the least possible changes in it, and preferably a big car, it's safer.

I wanted to buy a cheap car, but when I arrived everybody told me it would be impossible to find a car for less than 100.000 roupies. In the end and with many, many researches, I found one for 90.000. I had do some repairs but now it's seems ok. If you want cheap car it will be old and slighlty shitty, no doubt about that. Try not to buy a car that's older than 20 years, and, most important thing, ask for and independant mechanic to check the car for you. Never buy a car that has not been checked by a mecanic (chosen by you, not the seller of the car), of your have 90% chances to end up scewed. And never trust the meters.

You can check the classifieds in the newspaper l'express, ask around you or look for garages, but in the latter case be sure to have the car checked by another mecanic.
