Hello there,

I have been offered a job and am planning to come to Mauritius before the end of the year, and have my wife and daughter join at the soonest, once all in place....
One of my concerns is importing my 800cc scooter from 2011 to the Island and I have read so much about importing a vehicle with both heavy and reasonable costs, that I'm a bit lost!
I would be glad to hear from someone with a concrete experience of importing a motorcycle or scooter...
Many thanks for any comments or advice

Hello Karen,

Many thanks for your reply.
Having read the texts, I understand that I can basically import a motorcycle, but under certain conditions, and by paying some tax.
It is however not 100% clear to me as what the situation is and what engine power is taxable and not...
It mentions that a request shall be done to the Director of Customs & Excise for the specific vehicle, for approval.
Do you happen to have the contact of the so-called "Director, Customs & Excise" or similar services, so that I can contact them and get to know the exact situation?

Thank you for your help.

Regards;
Kris

Hello Yodec,

Just to inform you that this thread is very old (2013).

I think that you will obtain more responses on the thread that you have created on Saturday : https://www.expat.com/forum/viewtopic.p … 63#2530275;)

Best of luck
