Am I allowed to bring Food in to the Dominican Republic?

Post new topic

PARADISECAT

Greetings to all. Just wanted to now if I'm allowed to bring food in my luggage to the D.R. Specifically Cheddar Cheese, sliced ham, prosciuto slices, and a few portions of frozen fresh Salmon.  I know they scan your luggage of the Puerto Plata airport before exit these days and I brought in some of these items without issue before, but I was just curious as to other people's experience here on the forum, thanks.

It is usually fruits and veggies (plants) that they have a problem with. I have never seen anyone lose other food items.
