Dear Fellow Expats

I'm in a search for a volunteering possibility. My intentions right now looks like that: I would love to spend my February helping somewhere needed (orphanage, school, farm...!)I would prefer any part of Northern Vietnam, but I'm open to suggestions. I want to offer all my time, all skills including those about fundraising, positive attitude and ideas but as I'm not really wealthy and still a student I would love to be accommodated and offered some food if possible or at somewhat lower costs. Needless to mention that realization fees are kind of an obstacle too, but lets talk about that...

Any ideas? Please :)

If you're interested in Northern Việt Nam, then check out the sticky from l3ully

He's trying to get a group to help out an orphanage in Hải Dương.  I'm sure his project will be done by February but the orphanage will still be there.  There's a German outfit that's spearheading the charity: Stars of Việt Nam

If you're interested in Southern Việt Nam, you can check out the recommendation by Nhat Phuong.

Oh, and I forgot.  You'll see plenty of "volunteer" opportunities if you search the Internet, but these places make you pay anywhere between 1,000 and 3,000 USD.  That's just wrong and scammish.  You should also know, however, many charities in Việt Nam don't look at "giving time" as much value from foreigners as "giving money"...since locals have plenty of time and lack money.

There were some NGOs that were looking for volunteers (and they actually PAY YOU housing and food) up in the Hà Nội area.  Here's a link to keep a lookout for volunteers.

Hi Dear
I think you should contact Michael Brosowski, if you are interested to volunteer in the north (especially Hanoi) ... Organizing his Blue Dragon is a non-profit organization to help street children in Northern Vietnam ...  "http://www.bluedragon.org"
Or you can contact the "Central Vietnam NGOs" in facebook. They operate in Hoi An and Da Nang . "https://www.facebook.com/groups/329023877184934/?fref=ts "
If you need any other information, send me a message. I would be willing to answer.
