Hi Mazelick !

Well as far as tourism is concerned, there are many POI in Bahrain and some lovely landscapes. Let's not forget that Bahrain used to be one of the most important trading hub from the 25th century BC up to the 6th century BC under the name of Dilmun (Tylos in Greek). The island was very prosperous throughout the Mesopotamian History and you still can see a lot of relics from that times. If you don't care too much  for ancient history, you can also visit the museums, go to the desert, visit a camel farm, visit the forts (Arad fort & Bahrain Fort), go to see the tree of life, take picture sof all the wonderful mosqs, visit the Grand Mosq (Al Fatteh Mosq) which is an astonoshing place. Then you can go and discover the souqs, flee markets etc...
If you come with kids, there are a lot of water parks, or animal parks where they really can have a lot of fun. You can finish by visitng some little islands by boat, see the dolphins swimming besides you or rent a Dhow (traditionnal fisherman ships) for a saling day around Bahrain or Muharraq !
As you see, whatever it is that you like you will find something interseting to do. Of course, Bahrain is a small country and if you want to visit from 8 AM to 8 PM every day, you'll find it hard to keep yourself busy during a month ! But I used to work here 10 years ago during 2 years, I never felt bored. In a few weeks the Arab Jewels Exhibition is coming which is a great event and quite a sight !

As far as the cost of life is concerned, please check my previous answers to some forum members, you'll get some ideas about it but if you have any precise question just feel free to release them !

Yours

Olivier
