Recent info to share about sending CV, passport, etc to ESL jobs

In contacting / responding to Craigslist and Expat-Blog ESL listings I suspected that there were some resume predators stalking and I finally met a teacher who confirmed this and the implications.

Let me explain.  When you see these job listings with no school identification asking you to send in your CV, Passport, ESL Certs etc to get a response you are most likely sending your private professional info to a skimmer who is collecting that information and then offering it to a school employer in return for a significant portion of your future salary.  I cannot post names but if you PM i can tell you of one person doing this that advertises jobs on CL claiming to have ESL jobs and hawks that 'working for franchise schools is not the way to go'.  Nothing illegal, just be aware that you are turning your information over to a stranger who is then trying to middle man a deal in return for a cut of your future hourly paid rate...which means you're not getting your full possible pay and you sure can't negotiate a raise in the first year probably since the employer is paying the commission.

There are peeps doing for Nha Trang, HCMC, Danang, Hanoi etc.  Do what you want but I suggest you contact the advertiser and explain you don't want to send personal info to a stranger with no proof they are a real employment opportunity.  Not legitimate employer is going to refuse to indentify themselves, their school, their website...IMHO. Check out their website or the 'lack' of one.  I would suggest that you ask for the school license info if their website is an obvious second thought or no web site.  What school has no web site and no physical locations no license????   NONE! the VN law requires ...i've been told... 5+ employees and a permanent, modern, spacious teaching space conducive to learning ...so there you go. Take note.

Thanks for the warning. I have been sending my CV out to some places on here, so this is good to know.

You're a scholar and a gentleman.
