Not paying your bills

Post new topic

Hi everyone
Ive just been told by some Brazilians. that if you have a car on finances, and you don't pay all of the finance,  then no one will reposition the car, and you can keep it
Is this right here

James

Not true, if you have failed to pay all the installments on a vehicle then the creditor will apply to the court for an order of "Busca e Apreensão" and will repossess the vehicle if they are able to find it. Also you have provided them with your CPF number and they will register you with SPC and SERASA, you will not be able to get credit for anything until you debt is paid. The process is the same with any debt or bad checks, your name gets on the credit reporting agency and you can't get credit, you can't open a bank account, you can't arrange most services like electric, water, gas or telephone, etc.

Cheers,
James

Anyone missed to pay a boleto in time (another great brazilian invention) and receive agressive letter very quickly?  Happened to me with a water utility company and it was a bit stressfull.
My experience is that brazilians companies are fast about following up payment. Like in all countries they are certainly some people on the edge of the law that get away with it.
