Recommendations of cities in China

Could anyone recommend cities in China that have minimal air pollution, but still has a presence of diversity (Expat esl teachers and visible minorities)?

I'm writing from Canada, am a visible minority and am seriously pursuing teaching in China.

If compared with Canada's environment , There is almost no place can be the candidate city, Xia Men city or SanYa in Hai Nan island is the answer if must choose one place.
