Hello!
My husband John and I are looking forward to moving to Ajijic area in the spring. We stayed here in 2014 for 10 days and have been back here for 20 days. Unfortunately we return to Ontario, Canada July 17th. However, we have decided we want to sell everything and move down here permanently.

We are very excited although somewhat nervous but we think this will be a good move for us. We have met so many wonderful people in just three weeks and cannot wait to continue the journey.

Congratulations and Welcome to Ajijic! It's the huge support community that makes it so special.
My partner is from London, Ontario and fell in love with the place after her first visit with 'Focus on Mexico' Tour group. She returned and put her home on the market and it sold in 1 day! She never looked back and has been enjoying living in Ajijic for 7 years now.
Don't worry and enjoy the adventure.
Which part of Ontario are you from?

I was there only once, with a friend who had dental work done.   Very artistic town.    Two friends - both very creative - have moved there and are so happy with their new home.    If the lake were swim-able, I would come as well.   But it is not.   So I will be choosing the Pacific.   Enjoy and best to you both!

Hi to both, my wife and I have made the move after travelling during 10 years with an RV then 4 years by plane, visited all parts of Mexico.
We are moving on August 26th, we have rented a 2 bedroom apartment in La Peñita de Jaltemba so if we find the area unsuitable for any reason  (heat in summer, to touristy, etc.) we can go to another area.
Buena suerte en su proyecto, GyC.

How much does it cost to move a household of 2 from San Francisco to Ajijic? We are art collectors and do not want to live in Mexico without them.

My husband and I have the same plan. Move to Ajijic in 2018. Would love to share notes with you.
We live in a little town next to the Golden Gate Bridge called Sausalito. Although it's a beautiful and wonderful small town, we feel we're ready for a change. We are debating whether to rent or buy in Ajijic.  To bring our furniture or just our artwork. A lot of decisions to be made!
We are traveling to Ajijic in October for 2 weeks, that might give us a better idea of what to do before we make any decisions.
Best of luck, hopefully we will be sipping  margaritas overlooking Lake Chapala next year!

Hola ! I am here in ajijic , arrived in April. I LOVE it here but, I think ( just my opinion) that 2 weeks may not be time to fully form a permanent opinion. It is Mexico, there is no rush, come and rent for awhile. If you fall in love then buy your dream home. If you don't there a many lovely places in Mexico for you to land and live happily ever after . This is a small town lol, I look forward to meeting you!

I have to agree Mel01.  Ajijic is not for everyone. Either you love it or you don't.  And two weeks may not be enough to make up your mind. I took 3 months before it finally grew on me (1 month on my first visit and 2 months into my second) and then I fell in love with it.  My partner, however, knew after the first week. She went back and sold her home in 1 day and came on down.  Everyone is different.

Thanks for the input.  I agree with you, Mexico has its idiosyncrasies, but I love every one of them.  Looking forward in meeting you as well. I will keep you posted and updated.
