Hello all,

My job application is still ongoing after 5 months! I have a couple more questions.

I am looking to possibly NOT drive a car in mauritius if I come over as I would live and work in Grand Bay. Is this wise, at least to start with?

How much is a standard mountain bike? This could be my only transport for a while at least!

Thanks in advance :o)

If you are living and working in Grand Bay then you should be able to get away with only a mountain bike at least for the short term.

One thing to consider though is if you want to go anywhere else on the island a mountain bike would not be the safest way to move about the island.  Drivers in Mauritius are not the best and the roads are quite narrow with little to zero extra room for a car and a bike to share the road.  Getting around Grand Bay is fine, but even then you should definitely be careful.

thanks bunkoma! Yes I've heard several stories about the roads. None of them good :(

if you have a GPS, the road can be a place full of pleasure. it warns you of the turns, gives you the odometer & kilometer travelled for, and can also keep traces of your routes ;)

have a nice ending week, and a merry wkend

Thanks Armand,

I'm still very excited!

I'm getting married in May, then off on honeymoon to Italy, and then looks like STRAIGHT to Mauritius!

I must be the first person ever thats looking forwards to coming BACK from my honeymoon before I've even left :D

Armand

Indeed Strawb :D

Hope people will believe you when you tell them you are going to work in Mauritius and not extending your honeymoon :)

All my best wishes
Armand
