My little boy will be 2 in May.  We are doing some "homework" before possibly reloctaing to Mru within the next 6-8 month and are wondering about schools for when he is old enough.  Any suggestions for sites/schools for me to look at?  Also  what are the rules and regulations for a non citizen (my husband has citizenship) to find/get work?  We'll need two salaries.  Hubby already has a job offer lined up.

Welcome on Expat.com SoniaKoenig ;)

I would suggest you to look at:

Alexandra House (Private primary school)

Le Bocage International school

Hope this helps!

Dear Sonia

We are also from SA and my little girl(30months) is in MartineEtColette in Pérèybere, Grand Baie in the North. It is a French and English playgroup that runs from 730-1200, but your child can stay later as they offer care to kids for working parents. My daughter just loves it there! It is a lovely little school, and you can check it out on their website: martinecolette.com

All the best!

Hi, if you will be located up north you can also have a look at http://www.lighthouseprimaryschool.org/

Also  what are the rules and regulations for a non citizen (my husband has citizenship) to find/get work?

Sorry, i have to pass on this one, but i think you will have to go through the whole process of fulfilling certain requirements. Have a look at:

Maybe that will help you in your research.

bye bye, Dietmar

Hi Armand,
Thanks so much! Will give them a call.

The school you choose will definitely depend on where you will be staying here. If it's in the centre of the Island, then you have a wider variety of schools namely Summerside tots, Hampton, Safe and Sound (Quatre Bornes), Arche de Zoe, Melbees, Alexandra House (Curepipe), Clavis (Moka) My Kids go to Morning Star School in Vacoas.
It follows the Ace curriculum - Accelerated Christian Education. The kids love it there. They start from Grade 0 which equals to about age 4 upto High School.

Re work for a non citizen, wou have to apply for a temporary National I.D Card No with the National Pensions Office. Once you have that, you can apply for work. That is if your husband has Mauritian citizenship already.

Hope was of help
