Year of the Dog 2018; How are you celebrating?

Post new topic

Well, it is that time of the year again. 2018 is the year of the dog.  How are you celebrating?

For me...

Today is two days before CNY. So the mandatory door decorations are up. (I oriented "prosperity" right side up this year.) Make sure the poem on the left side ends in 3rd and fourth tone. The right side is first and second tones for the last words.

As I am a dog sign, I have my red underwear and socks stocked up.

Off to the in-laws. It's a full-on debauchery orgy of endless huge meals, baijiu drinking and KTV's. That will last for a good week, though my in-laws want to extend it longer.

Red envelopes for all the kids back in the home town. It's getting expensive, though Wenzhou doesn't shirk on the amounts in the envelopes. Ugh!

I have to stick it out with the staff this year. So I will work to the very end tomorrow with a small crew. One engineer, and one Customer Service gal.  Mostly everyone will probably end up sleeping or playing games on the cellphones. It's very quiet.

Dumplings are made, and we will probably eat our fill before we glutton out on seafood with the rest of the family.

That is my CNY. How about yours?

For those expats new to China. Don't be caught off guard. Make sure that you have plenty of food in the house and beverages of your preference. Depending on where you live, some cities turn into ghost towns. While other ones thrive.
