Has anyone negotiated real estate prices in Mexico?
We are looking at Merida real estate and see a couple of homes in the historic district and north Merida that would fit us

Find a good real estate agent.  Even though this agency focuses on Baja their tips on the www site on buying real estate still apply.  www.baja123.com

Also looking at Rosarito/ensenada area. But home prices and rentals seem pretty expensive

Only negotiations we had were a price discount if we put down a larger down payment, our condo is being built.  The developer would also finance, but there was no price discount, interest rate was very high, and it was only for ten years.  Again, we used the agent to negotiate for us.

Hi Jasmine,
If mexico was a person negotiation would be its middle name, BUT I suspect it takes knowledge, and language skills few expats would have.

So yes a real estate company in the specific area that you have checked out with others would be a good plan. Having a educated bilingual native friend helps also.

There are a number of things that can go wrong with real estate, and car purchases. Clear title is the big one. Fractional titles could keep someone busy for a long time. Choose your agent carefully.
