Criminal Background Check

Quick question, in order to work in Vietnam I understand I have to have a criminal background check. The question would be do I request of the criminal background check from the state police in the state in which I live and have it notarized or certified here in United States or how do I get it certified to for fulfill the Vietnamese government requirement?

Do you already have a job in Vietnam?
Or you don't have a job in Vietnam yet.

Consult your lawyer before using information, but here are what I know:
Your Criminal Background Check is only valid to apply for work permit in Vietnam within 6 months.

So if you already have a job in Vietnam and need to apply for work permit shortly, you should apply for Criminal Background Check and have it translated notarised to Vietnamese.

If you don't have a job in Vietnam yet, and may not need to apply for work permit within 6 months since arrival in Vietnam, you can apply for Criminal Background Check in Vietnam.
