Hi everybody,

Does anybody know what are the requirements/ documents needed/procedures in order to become a Consultant in Brazil? What do you need to do in order to be able to receive payments and afterwards to pay your income tax?
I tried to find out but till now I couldn`t, receiving different information about opening a small enterprise with accountant etc.

Thanks for sharing in case you know.

◾You’ll need to obtain a CNPJ number, which is your company’s tax ID number, equivalent to a TIN in the United States
◾The company’s articles of incorporation must be translated into Portuguese by a certified translator
◾Important: The company must have a resident agent in Brazil to interface with public and government agencies and maintain responsibility for tax payments
Now a consulting on what ? Make sure you find the ONGOING need for your services.
You’ll want to enlist professionals if opening a business here. At a minimum you’ll want a local accountant and attorney.

Thanks a lot for your quick and prompt reply!

In the meantime I made some research, maybe it will be useful for others as well.
Up to 81,000 Rs  income/year, you don`t need to register a company. You can be an individual consultant, registered at home, without needing an accountant and lawyer. You declare your income and pay your taxes on-line. You can hire maximum one staff.
After you exceed this income, you have to change your consultancy profile to "microemprendedor individual", this is more complicated. I think you can make the necessary changes online too.
I am still struggling with the bureaucracy of this "simple" process, but it should be fine, I hope.
