"Hi,
There are several types of undertakings under Vietnamese law, each has some typical requirements. Therefore, you need to read the enterprise law and decide wich type of company you prefer to run. Then, you need to prepare a business registration portfolio having files and forms required by the law.

When you finish your business portfolio, you can submit it online on the National Business Registration Portal. Then, the registration agency will reponse whether your portfolio is fulfilled or not. If it is fulfilled, you then pay the registration fees at the registation agency office and wait for an Enterprise Registration Certificate after 03 working days.

Also, there are some post-steps relating to tax declaration, invoice registation,...Besides, as far as I know, running bars and restuarant in Vietnam may require some sub-licenses, which need other procedures.

The above is just a simple summary to help you have an overview about the procedure. I, personally, suggest that you should use the business registraion service of a law firm, which may help you avoid barriers in language, regulations,... because, in fact, the procedure is really complicated in detail.

"Hi,
Conditions for a foreigner living permanently under Vietnam law are quite firm. There are only 4 cases that a foreigner can be CONSIDERED to grant permanent residence status. I say ""can be CONSIDERED"" because even if you are amongst of these cases, you need to fulfil one of three conditions prescribed by law to be eventually granted the permanent residence status.

As I know, the easiest approach is to marry a Vietnamese wife, who permanently live in Vietnam. You need to be sponsored by her and have had a temporary residence in Vietnam for 03 consecutive years or more.

About the procedure, there are only 4 steps and it's quite simple. Firstly, you need to prepare necessary documents presrcibed under law. Secondly, have those documents to the Vietnam Department of Immigration. Then, the Deparment will notify you about the result. Finally, if you are granted, you need to go to the Department office to take the Permanent Residence Card.

However, if you just want to live temporarily in Vietnam, the procedure for granting the Temporary Residence Card is more simple. You can be considered to be granted the card if your visa is one of the following types: LV1, LV2, ĐT, NN1, NN2, DH, PV1, LĐ, TT. Then, you need to be sponsored by an individual or organization because your sponsor will be the one who conduct the procedure for granting the card."

G’day Sanju,

Seriously ,,it could be anything.    Location, seating capacity , client market,  etc etc etc.....

You’ve got everything from kerbside kebab carts , to 5 star restaurants here.    Noodles , dog meat, crocodile, frogs, seafood .

Then you’ve got Expat  desperate’s  in tents  selling beer out of  Eskys because they can’t afford fridges....to classy Roof top bars on 5 star hotels.

If your in a tourist area,,in a good location ,,Yogi has a friend paying $4000 a month for 80 sqm selling the average dish for about $4 bucks.

Figure out how busy you’ve got to be to cover that.

That will get you very little. You may get something going in a smaller city, but very few customers due to the fact its so cheap to start up.

A small bar in Vung Tau goes for around 10-20k, then you need trading capital.

Better you should make a tour to Saigon and visit 10 to 15 bars around the city, and then you will get clear Idea where and what.

Here is an existing bar for sale in Vung Tau.

Tommy’s Bar, each time I visit Vung Tau I drop in there for a drink. Very good potential.
