Hi,

I opened a bank account with MCB recently, whilst I was in Cape Town. Very simple. I got the required docs together and couriered them to Mauritius. Account was opened in just over a week. No need for a Mauritian address. Explained circumstances, provided proof of residence/address in CPT.
Drop me a message if you need anything specific.

Thank you will give them a try

Hi ! could you advise if we could open a bank account on a tourist visa in Mauritius? If yes, documents required for the same.

NS808

Hi,

I believe you can open an account regardless of visas. The only difference, I believe, is as a Mauritian national (Mauritian permit) you are charged differently. Only found this out this morning, when I went to change address and bank realised that I now had a permit. They will reduce my bank charges.
Docs as above

I found mcb on-line very helpful and quick to respond to questions posed.

Hope this help.

Vijay Viswanath

thanks very much!
