Does anyone have a suggestion for a good one?  Looking to stay about a week.

All depends what you consider good and your budget.  Are you looking for budget  conscious, large, smaller, great beach or pool, excellent food? Give us some guidance.

Because of Covid we had cancelled.
We are now coming in Sept.
Looking for a quiet, all-inclusive, by the beach.
We are an older couple, and will be traveling from Santiago.
Looking for good food, we previously stated In LifeStyle Resorts, Presidential Suites, but the food was the same throughout the resort, no matter which restaurant we ate at.
Money is not an issue.

@Solar39 Though the room and scenery was comfortable and beautiful, I do not recommend Viva Wyndham Tangerine in Cabarete for the food. However, it's a nice place and is in walking to the main strip of Cabarete.

I believe Be Live Collection Marien will be a nice, relaxing option that is not very expensive.

The most tranquil, good quality resort I have experienced in DR is Be Live Collection Canoa in Bayahibe (La Romana). Though it is not Sosua,/Puerta Plata, it is popular among the older crowd that just want peace and quiet in a great scenery.

Best of luck on your search!

I stayed at Senators in Puerto Plata. The hotel was nice but food was awful.

Cabarete area when I stayed (not all inclsuive) pre covid had good food. The all inclusives tend to have bad food in my opinion.

The Windham Resort in Cabaret was pretty nice. My brothers and sister stayed there when they came for my wedding. They reported the service, food and accommodations all pretty dang good - and they were likely way more budget conscious than you folks.....good luck....

In Puerto Plata I would suggest Gran Ventana or Iberostar.

Emotions in playa dorado has very nice  rooms to stay in and the pool was great , w/ 4-5 restaurants on premises but I found Grand paradise had better food  .
Not sure which one’s were bought out in the last 2 years as I know Windham was up for sale and  playa dorado was being taken over by emotions. ….Plus maybe a few more  I think were in bankruptcy……. Good luck and enjoy

Honestly Iberostar is by far the best. They provide the best service in the area - they are one of the most expensive but you won’t be disappointed- any time we have large groups or people who haven’t travelled we take them to stay at Iberostar Costa Dorada as they are by far the BEST service. My spouse used to work hotels as well - have a great trip.

Thank you, this is very informative.

@DRVisitor
Yea, that seems to be the trend.

We are trying not to stray out of the resort, but i guess we would have to, and sample the local restaurants.

Thanks!
